Scope and evidence

Evaluated on page (P), first max_images_per_page images. The book marks this requirement SUPPORTED (Chapter 44).

Informational because Google states support, not ineligibility. Descriptive file names are a house-convention info item (SEO-IMG-03-HC), citing Google's example that my-new-black-kitten.jpg is better than IMG00023.JPG. Favicons have a different list (SEO-META-05A). Google also states "Google doesn't index CSS images"; the scanner cannot tell a content image from a decorative background, so it does not check CSS.

Observations

Each condition has a stable code and a reason template. The evaluator fills the placeholders from observed values only; no sentence in a report is generated.

  • unsupported_format

{n} images on {url} are in a format outside BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, SVG and AVIF, for example {src} ({format}). Google lists these formats as supported for images referenced in img src.

Sources, quoted

These are the passages the rule rests on, stored once in the knowledge base and emitted exactly as written. A citation marked for specific conditions appears only on findings with those codes.
